Service Technician

POSITION:           Service Technician (Full Time)

REPORTS TO:     Service Director

 

PURPOSE OF POSITION OVERVIEW

Mercedes Benz of Willoughby is looking for a full time flat rate technician preferably with Mercedes-Benz experience and certification for immediate hire.  We are looking for a highly motivated individual willing to approach their job responsibilities with pride and "fix it correct the first time" determination.  If you want to work as a team member in a dealership of highly trained professionals with the attitude of making the customer number ONE, then please read on. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Diagnose vehicles issues, competently maintain and repair vehicles in a professional, neat and timely manner.

·         Analyze and repair vehicles in a professional manner using customer description, technical diagnostic equipment, printed publications and documents.

·         Document all repairs completely and attach any supporting documents to repair order.

·         Recommend all needed repairs on repair order, and advise service consultants.

·         Communicate effectively with all service consultants and management.

·         Complete all required training, testing and certifications needed in a timely manner.  

·         Be proficient with and consistently execute all relevant processes as directed by management.

·         Explanation mechanical diagnoses and repairs in a non-technical professional manner to service consultants and customers.

·         Stay current and learn new technical information and techniques in formal training to be current with the rapidly changing technology and the industry.

·         Road testing vehicle before and after repairs to confirm the repair is correct the first time.

·         Work as a contributing member of the service team.

·         Maintain positive working relationships with the service team and all employees.

·         Conduct business within the company's policies and procedures.

·         Be ethically, with integrity and in the best interest of the customers and the company at all times.

·         Must maintain an organized neat and safe working stall.

·         Protect customer's vehicles with floor mat covers, seat and steering wheel covers, when necessary fender covers.

·         Thanking and saying hello to customers expressing appreciation for their business.

·         Communicates with the parts team to making sure the customer's vehicles are complete in a timely cost efficient manner.

·         Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.

·         Maintain shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns; maintain supplies, performing preventive maintenance, advising management.

·         Save and tag old parts for warranty, return to customers if required. Never throw out old parts without management's authorization.

·         Report any safety issues immediately to management.

·         See management for additional duties and responsibilities.

·         Pay complete attention to details.

·         Show up to work on time and ready to start at your starting time. 

·         Target productivity.

·         Target Customer Satisfaction.

·         Target Fixed the First time.

 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS/ JOB REQUIREMENTS

·         Preferred, experienced flat rate Mercedes Benz technician.

·         Previous European automotive technician experience is a plus.

·         Working knowledge of applicable Mercedes Benz diagnostic system and testing equipment.

·         Ability to use computers for mathematical calculations, word processing, emails, research, training, testing and communications with manufacturers. 

·         Maintain certifications required by company.

·         Furnish own tools.

·         Valid driver's license and insurability under Mercedes Benz of Willoughby's policy maintained throughout employment.

·         Willing to work overtime when necessary.

·         Willing to work Saturdays when necessary.

·         Must have superior communication skills (both written and verbal)
